LOL. Like he said, 1942 was probably worse than BF2 when it came out. It eventually got fixed and we ended up playing it for 3 years. Now, im sure there will be more growing pains for BF2, but im sure we will be playing it for a long time and they will eventually patch it all up.

DAMN YOU XL, taking the story and turning it around to something possitive, lol....
I agree with the writer. I work at a really large developer and I think what EA and Dice do is total BS. Most of the games we make are for consol and handheld so we dont get that Patch slack mumbo jumbo. If its broken when it ships, thats the end of the story, no second, third, fourth, hundredth fixes..
Imagine if you bought a Sony TV only to find out it doesnt work, and then sony mailed you parts for two years untill it finaly work like you EXPECTED it should at P.O.P. I imagine you'd be upset.

LOL Robo. Im just a positive kinda guy. Well, as long as were not talking about STDs.
What you said makes sense, but there are less variables with console games. With PC games, there are hundreds of pieces of hardware and software that the game must be compatible with. And when you mix in online gaming, its a whole new bunch of variables. Im no expert at game design, but I would compare console to Apple. Part of the reason Apples are (arguablely) so stable, is that they pretty much know all the variables because they make the OS and (put together) the hardware.
Dont get me wrong, im not defending EA. Im just hopeful that they will quickly fix all their holes and make this game as great as it should be. Its like cheering for your favorite team. They may suck, but you always see the bright side and hope for the best. Even if im a Cowboys fan (which im not), doesnt mean I have to love Jerry Jones!

I couldn't have said it better myself. Two cookies and a tall glass of milk for this guy. Maybe I'll be able to play with some feeling of satisfaction two years from now. I hope he runs for Congress in my district.

Shoot, I know the problem. They need to get REAL gamers to test their damn games. Have you seen the vids of the room with all of the so-called testers? Those guys were just a bunch of programmers on lunch break! They need to bring in some hardcore mofos like Army and Steve to stress test the crap outta the thing. They'd just need to make sure they dont play 49 hours straight!

LOL.... Bill Gates is my hero, too! Why is it that I never have the problems with MS products that everybody else seems to experience? Hmmm.. call it luck I guess!

XL, true there are less variables as far as hardware, but what you probably do not know is our dev cycles are shorter than a PC's for reasons exactly that. Which means less time to test. So it should be proportionate.
Next, I think XP has to be hands down the most stable consumer OS (Linux dont count cuz NO ONE uses it) I have even used. Since owning it for the last 3 years I have had maybe 3-5 crashes and 2 of them were from (ofcourse) BF2. Other than that, my latest computer (of 7 months) has only crash once, because i punched my desk so hard the video card came un plugged. Opps...lol
On the otherhand, os X for Crash 'n toss gave me crashes left and and right when I was on a g4 doing design work. (and not just one g4)
I think BIll gates is a good guy, he's donated more money than anyone else, ever... im pretty sure... cuz every year his foundation donates nearly if not billions for schools, etc.

No doubt, MS gets a bad rap mainly because the rest are jealous. But since we were talking about that article and how patches are released that make things worse, I had this flashback of XP service pack 2 and how it killed a good percentage of computers and was incompatible with numerous popular software titles. I remember issuing a company wide warning NOT to install SP2, even if your computer tells you its a good idea , hehe.

SP2 didn't plague me either, and I have no problems with MS products. I'm also a fan of Bill Gates. There's a common attitude that rich people are somehow crooks, or cheaters, or just plain evil. People for some reason overlook the fact that industrialists and business tycoons not only create jobs for millions of people, they create entire World Economies. Instead of villifying them, I take on the attitude that they are visionaries that we can all learn from. One of the hardest things to do in this world is to earn a buck. You have to respect a man who can earn 50 billion if them.
