The begining of the Alley Viper Avitar.. This is 100% original art, modelled after the G.I. Joe emblem. GO-69JOE!! Joe let me know your ideas, I plan to have this atop the Joe Cobra emblem with some crazy Alley Viper font in the mix. Photoshopers out there will know just how difficult this is.. About 2 hours work already...Thoughts?

Wow. Thats pretty darn impressive there Monkey. What did you use as a base? I like the attention to detail, like the checker plate look in the background and the swirl in the text. 2 Hours is not to shabby either. You are now a photoshop guru LZ

LZ, to answer your question, I created the texured steel look using the "Define Pattern" command. Make a small design with the pen tool or custom shape tool, and then control click on that layer to highlight the selection, next go to "Edit" "Define Pattern", then go to your channels palette, create a new channel, and use the "Edit, Fill" command, select your custom pattern you created and voila! Next, I gausian blurred 4 times at 9 pixels, 6, 3, and 1 to smooth things up. Following this I used the "levels" dialogue box to resharpen my blur by moving the black slider to the right. Now that you have the pattern as an Alpha Channel, go back to your layers palette and create a new layer from the Alpha Channel selection. This will give you the basic black pattern on white background. Next use "Filter, Render, Lighting Effects. Under the texture channel of the dialouge box, using the drop down menu, select the Alpha Channel that you created in the channels palette. Move the spotlight position to the desired location, ensure Height is set to mountanious and your gloss to shiny and material to metallic, and presto you will have a textured backdrop that looks an awful lot like metal. Obviously some trial and error must occur.

Monkey, the only ideas I have for Alley Viper text is maybe the "typewriter" font on the file card. I'm not too good a viusalizing how well things will go together though.

Cobra!
Very cool monkey. Thanks for the ps info too.
Brings back a lot of cool memories. I think I still have some of the toys in storage.
I used to like that ninja dude and snake eyes.
