Camera came in today via DHL. BTW, DHL rocks. they got the package to me in like 26.5 hours. No 2nd day to Hawaii MY AZZ! VR and I were comparing cameras and this thing rocks on the multi shot function. I think I must have took like 20 shots in a row until I let the button go (didnt want a CF card full of pictures of the wall clock) Tried my old film 35-80 lens on tonight and it works like charm. ;D Gotta love it. factoid: The company name before Canon was Kwanon.

'Gratz!
Have fun with the new toy.
I have my heart set on the Nikon D50 myself, but the price is way out of my league. Seems I'll have to content myself with the ol' [but still quite loverly] D Rebel.

Kwanon? Is Canon a Japanese or Asian company? I always thought it was American.

Thanks Bunny. Yeah, I like Nikon too, but theyre just waaaay too expensive. Ive been pricing some other lenses, man, those wide angle suckers are pricey. I guess they need to sock it to you somewhere. Feel free to link any of your photos here. Were all photo buffs of one level or another. Sheep, I think Canon started off as and partly still is a Japanese company. Heres a little blurb www.canon.com/camera-museum/history/canon_story/html/1933_1936.htmlPretty interesting reading.

Huh...
And I'd thought Canon was all-American.
Nikon is expensive, but then most of their high-end SLRS were meant for professionals, specifically sport-shooters.
I've been looking into wide-angle macro lenses myself, and I'm thinking I'll have to sell my arm, leg and a few major vital organs to be able to afford one.

But he does a good job. True. I guess its just like professional tools. They cost more because "theyre worth it". And I guess if its a choice between getting the shot or getting fired, I guess it would be smart to spend the money to get the shot. Fortunately, there are always 3rd party lens makers. Of course the quality/compatibility in some cases is questionable. But, I guess you make due with what you can afford. Im gonna check out the local stores to see if they have any used IS lenses in decent condition. I always wanted to try one of those lenses.

I'm drooling over some cool Lensbaby effects, though I admit the novelty wears off after a time. Though I imagine it would be good for dedicated studio & portrait photogs....though I suppose the same effect could be achieved with Photoshop.
By the by, know of any good stcok agencies that deal in amateur/emerging photogs? Mention Shutterstock and I will choke myself. Methinks it's bad business, but most don't agree. Ah well, each to his own.

Ah yeah, I saw the lens babies. Interesting concept. I think Ill stick with photoshop, cheaper. Plus I like the option of being able to go with a sharp image if I change my mind. If you do try one out, let me know how it goes. Funny you asked about stock photography, just read this one in popular photography www.popphoto.com/article.asp?section_id=5&article_id=1416&page_number=1

If it wasnt for the WHOLE back half of the magazine being ads, Popular Photography would be my favorite mag.
