Wow... Have you guys seen the wreckage from this horrible natural disaster? Simply f**king amazing. And very sad, indeed. This is just the beginning. I predict that the deaths from the storm itself or the aftermath of its fury will reach the thousands. It will be months, if not years, before New Orleans and the other Gulf states will return to any form of normalcy. My God... the city of New Orleans. The experts have been warning people about their situation for years. When all you are is protected by levees and marshes, that can't be any good. Tens of thousands of people are left without many possessions left, with very little food to eat, and clean water is at a premium. They need our help. If time permits, I am asking the Treasurer of this group to possibly find a way where our organization can donate money to these victims and their family through the Red Cross. I don't know what each can afford, but I am willing to start this with $50 on my family's behalf. I think this would be a great community service from the members of [TEAM]69er™. Others who frequent our server can join in if they feel the need. Maybe an advertisement on our server for the next few weeks or so encouraging the donations? Just a thought. As I sit here in my dry house enjoying all of the luxuries that these victims took for granted, I can't help but to feel sorrow for those who have lost. If the 69er™ organization is unable to set up a fund, then I still ask that anybody who can donate do so. There was the Great Tsunami of 2004. There was Live 8 for Africa. Now let's help those in America this time.

Count me in Red. I've been to Mardi Gras and have fond memories of New Orleans. It's a shame a city as vibrant and lush with atmosphere has experienced this disaster. Anybody have suggestions on how we can make a donation as a team?

Theres always red cross. Their normally the first ones on the scene (god bless their hearts) helping to find a place to sleep and providing warm meals and essentials. I dont think donating funds should be a problem. However, (and I dont mean to detract from the tragedy here) with the tsunami fund, anyone who donated was able to write the donation off on taxes (but the check would have had to come from the person and gone directly to whatever organization). If you guys dont really care about the tax write off, then no problem. If you want to make a personal contribution to red cross, heres the link. www.redcross.org/donate/donation-form.aspIf you want to donate to us to donate to the red cross or some other hurricane relief fund organization, for now, I think you can just use the paypal link above with a note saying what the funds are for.

Like LZ said, if you want to make a donation, click the Paypal button up top and note in there what its for. We will collect and send it off to the Red Cross soon. We will try to keep a running tally, just in case you'all are curious.

Thanks for the donation robo, Im sure the people down south will appreciate any help they can get. If no one has any objections, Im going to make any donations to the american red cross for the hurricane relief fund. I think I saw a couple of other funds listed on cnn and if I find them Ill list them here.
Ill make a donation with whatever contributions end of day tomorrow. That will give any straglers more time to contribute. If there are more contributions after that, Ill probably donate once a week.

Just a side note, there are about 5 of my co-workers there in the middle of all of that devistation. Apparently my coworkers where attending a EMS conferance there in New Orleans and it ended on Sat. The huricane came on Sunday. They where held up in a hotel somwhere in the french quarter. They described the prices for food and H20. They also described the constant looting and frequent shooting by gangs that raided gun stores and are now armed and apparently sniping people in the streets. To make a long story short they all made it out safe and are now in a base camp where they are helping out with the relief effort. Of corse not by choice, something about FEMA is telling them they can't leave and need to stay. So my coworkers will be in New Orleans for a few weeks.

LZ I just sent payment via Paypal but it didn't give me an option to label it as Red Cross. Just know that the last payment I sent is for this cause. BTW thanks for your work as the accountant for the Team. Your efforts make things happen much smoother than they would oterwise.

Yeah I heard about some one sniping evacuation vehicles as they tried to evacuate people from the hospital. How messed up is that? Why dont you list your friends names so we can give them a little bit of honor for those heros helping out with the effort (even if not by choice) Maybe the media is not portraying things correctly, but is it me, or does FEMA seem to be dragging their feet? Another thing I have to wonder is how much is the drain on the national guard affecting the relief effort?

Yeah, I figured out the paypal problem when I got the donation from Robo. I thought he was just being generous and donating to our server Ill have matt post another link with the correct label. Until then if anyone does paypal money for the relief fund, just post it here or email me. Thanks for the Kudos too. ;D
