Simply amazing. Some bureaucrats call layed a whole city to waste. Thanks for the link Rapid. The news also reported that there was a report that was done in 2001 noting that this disaster was a distinct possiblity, but still funding was cut. service.spiegel.de/cache/international/0,1518,372455,00.html

LZ thanks for stepping up and organizing the donations. Otherwise I would not have done sheit. No problem. But I think the thanks should go to Red, he kinda got the ball rolling. Im actually pretty impressed with the public outpouring. I think as of a few days ago, over $2 million had been raised. And this is not including the foreign aid. And i believe the state of Texas deserves a round of applause. As far as I know (and I may be wrong), they were the only nearby state to step up to the plate and welcome the survivors with open arms.

Anyone hear the latest news that Bush placed unqualified cronies into the top FEMA positions?

OKay im pissed, so here's my rant.....
IT seems like FEMA fumbled, but sheit, ANYTIME ANYTHING happenes the democrats start pointing fingers immedieately. If a democrat was in office, the republicans would do the same.
I f**king hate politicians, all they care about is blaming the other party for EVERYTHING. Look at 9/11. a-holes said Bush knew it was gunna happen.
f**k them all, they should be concerned about the millions without homes and jobs right now.
They are all selfish bastards.
THE END

Yes, even Howard Dean supposedly ranted just recently, real hard to do from rich house in New England...what a friggin NIMROD..... Here in Mayberry, er uh I mean COLUMBIA s.c. we've started recieving evacuees (sp)... I delivered pizza last might at a travel lodge that is housing many...Big sign at front saying WELCOME to bumf**k !(ok columbia) and there was a table with care package bags (about 50) ...and signs saying free shuttle etc.... and a bunch of guys sitting drinkin ALOT of beer..IT FELT WIERD, like I was suddenly THERE at new orleans, because It started to finally sink in what it must feel like for them... we also have apt complexes that will house families too. It feels surrealistic, like 9/11 did... This is a far reaching disaster....

It would not supprise me if Hilary Clinton ends up blaming Bush for the Hurricain. And BTW she is lobbying to have an "investigation" over matters of katrina.
Let me remind you, this is the same stupid biotch, douchebag that got the government to "investigate" GTA: san andreas for its soft-porn sequence.
Earth to Hilary, WHAT THE f**k DO YOU NEED TO INVESTIGATE?!

Fortunately at least the homeland security guy found his half of a brain and decided to replace Michael Brown, the FEMA chief (at least as far as Katrina is concerned) with someone more qualified. Thad Allen, a coast guard vice admiral assumed the burden. Probably a little too late, but I guess better late then never.
Personally I think there should be an investigation, but it should be focused on why Bush placed these people in their positions (although we pretty much know that one), and what made them qualified for that position. Hopefully in the future, it will prevent or at least minimize this kind of politicial back scratching. But I doubt it.
Id like to know if they "spun" their own resumes or if the white house did that for them. Pretty dirty pool all around.

I sure wouldnt..... True true. I dont think LZ is implying anything happen until everything is taken care of in N.O. first. When that time comes, instead of finding a scapegoat, hopefully they figure out what didnt work, what could have been done better and be more prepared for the next disaster. All you can do is learn from your mistakes. I dont know the exact quote, but it goes something like this, "I dont care what you didnt do yesterday, I care what you can do for me tomorrow."

Ooops. Yep. XL is right. I meant to say that an investigation should be conducted after all the N.O peeps are squared away.
